Yaba LCDA Goes to School in Makoko with Change-A-Life
Many thanks to the Yaba LCDA
Chairman, Honourable Jide Jimoh, who lived up to his promise in December 2009
by providing over 200 pupils of Whanyinna nursery and primary school with Denim
Ruck-Sack School bags and exercises books.
Change-A-Life brought the
attention of Whanyinna School to the Yaba LCDA chairman who was hitherto not
aware. He has also placed the teachers on a consistent salary as they were
previously being paid by contributions from the community members which was not
regular.
Whanyinna Nursery and
Primary School was discovered in April 2009 when Change-A-Life’s founder, Funmi
Iyanda was shooting part of the episodes of her new talk show – Talk With Funmi
around the community.
So far, Change-A-Life has
offered educational scholarships to six (6) children from the community (three
from Whanyinna School and three from a grandmother who is taking care of three
(3) grandchildren left to her by her late children). Five (5) teachers from Whanyinna
nursery and primary have also been given scholarships to attend a teachers
training college.
